Welcome to Mosaic, Software for Powering Communities. The power of a community is measured by the engagement of its membersāthe degree to which they communicate with each other and participate in community life. This presents a challenge for diverse communities like cohousing, ecovillages, and community action organizations. We all work and sleep different hours and are often traveling or in classrooms or meetings that can't be interrupted. With a Mosaic Website, however, engagement is almost effortless. Everyone can connect from anywhere at any time.
Mosaic websites are developed using a set of open-source software programs that are seamlessly integrated as modules that can be activated or inactivated. They are fully secure, requiring unique authorized passwords for access, and members can access and enter information from wherever they are at any hour of the day. The modules create a structure and provide the tools for managing and recording the daily activities of the community.
Communities only activate the modules they choose to use. All modules are documented here but they may not all appear on your community website.
Modules are accessed via the navigation bar at the top of each page. The menu will usually include:
The footer bar at the bottom of each page begins with a link to theseĀ Documentation files for information on how to use Mosaic. The second link may be used to contact the Mosaic developers to send feedback, report a problem, or suggest a new feature.
Entering and editing information on each web page is done via a form that popups up when you click an Add or Edit button. In addition to fields to enter the requested information, forms usually contain an Add or Save button in the upper or bottom right corner. Please remember to use these when entering information.
The first information you will want to edit will probably be your Profile and Settings pages.
